About History

After Queen Viharamahadevi, the huge name in Sri Lankan history, and the mother of King Dutugamunu, this park was established.
In previous times, this park was named and known as Victoria Park.
Viharamahadevi Park was taken by the 17th Brigade of the Australian Army in World War II.
Viharamahadevi Park also hosted popular games.
In 1951, after World War II, the park was renovated and opened to the public.

Location

In Sri Lanka, The Park is located near the National Museum in Colombo and is around a half-hour away from the City Center. Also, Viharamahadevi Park can be seen in front of a colonial-era town hall building.
