Terms of Service
Last updated: 29 September 2026
These terms apply when you use this website and when you book travel arrangements through Wander Tropics. Please read them carefully before you book, particularly sections 2, 7 and 10, which explain our role and limit our responsibility. By paying a deposit, you confirm that you have read and accept these terms on behalf of everyone in your booking.
1. About Us
Wander Tropics is a brand of Digital Tourism (Pvt) Ltd, a company incorporated in Sri Lanka, with its office at No. 46 Lauries Road, Colombo 04, Sri Lanka ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at info@wandertropics.com or +94 77 011 0643.
2. Our Role
We plan itineraries and book travel services in Sri Lanka and the Maldives on your behalf. Hotels, resorts, drivers, guides, boat, seaplane and transfer operators, and activity providers ("suppliers") are independent businesses. We act as a booking agent for these suppliers. Your contract for each service is with the supplier who provides it, and each supplier's own terms and conditions apply to its services.
We don't sell flights. Flights are never part of your booking unless your confirmation expressly says so.
3. Quotes and Prices
- Quotes and itineraries are free, and you can change them as often as you like before you book.
- Prices, packages, photos and descriptions on this website are a guide only and are not an offer. Your quote sets out the price, currency and what's included for your dates.
- Hotel rates, availability, taxes, fees and exchange rates can change at any time. A quote is not guaranteed until your booking is confirmed in writing.
- We may correct any error in a price or description at any time, even after booking. If we do, you can accept the corrected booking or cancel with a refund of the money you've paid us.
4. Booking and Payment
- Deposit: to confirm your booking, you pay a deposit of 60% of the total price by bank transfer. Your booking is confirmed only when we have received the deposit in full and sent you written confirmation.
- Balance: the remaining 40% is paid in cash on arrival, in the currency stated on your confirmation, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- Bank charges: you pay all fees charged by your bank and any intermediary banks, so that we receive the full amount.
- Late or unpaid amounts: if the deposit isn't received by the date we give you, we may release your reservations without notice. If the balance isn't paid on arrival, we may cancel all remaining services, and this counts as a cancellation by you (section 6).
- Your details: you must check your confirmation and tell us immediately if anything is wrong. Names must match passports exactly. We're not responsible for problems caused by incorrect information you've given us.
5. Changes You Ask For
If you want to change your booking after it's confirmed, tell us in writing. We'll try to help, but we can't guarantee any change. You'll pay any difference in price and all charges our suppliers make for the change. Changes during your trip depend on availability and are paid locally.
6. Cancellations by You
You can cancel at any time by telling us in writing (email is fine). The cancellation takes effect on the day we receive it. The following charges apply, based on how many days before your arrival date we receive your cancellation:
- 22 days or more before arrival: we refund 50% of the deposit you've paid.
- 21 days or fewer before arrival, or if you don't arrive: the deposit is non-refundable.
Some suppliers, such as certain Maldives resorts and hotels over peak dates and festivals, have stricter cancellation rules. Where they apply, we'll tell you in your quote, and those rules apply to that part of your booking.
No refunds are given for any part of a trip you don't use, including if you leave early, miss a service or change your plans during the trip. Refunds are paid by bank transfer, less bank charges, within 30 days of us agreeing the refund.
7. Changes and Cancellations by Us or Our Suppliers
- Travel arrangements may need to change. We or our suppliers may change hotels, resorts, vehicles, drivers, guides, routes or the order of visits, and we'll provide a replacement of a similar standard where we reasonably can.
- If we have to cancel your booking before you travel, we'll refund the money you've paid us for the services not provided, less any amounts suppliers don't return to us. Where the cancellation is caused by events outside our control (section 9), we'll refund what we're able to recover from suppliers.
- We don't pay compensation, expenses or any other amount for changes or cancellations.
8. Your Responsibilities
- Travel documents: you're responsible for valid passports (usually valid for at least 6 months after arrival), visas or electronic travel authorisations for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and any vaccinations or health documents required. Entry rules change, so check official government sources before you travel. We're not responsible if you're refused boarding or entry.
- Travel insurance: everyone travelling must have travel insurance covering medical treatment, emergency repatriation, personal accident, cancellation and loss of belongings for the whole trip, including any activities. You're responsible for all costs if you travel without suitable insurance.
- Health and fitness: you must tell us before booking about any medical condition, disability or reduced mobility that may affect your trip. You're responsible for making sure you're fit to take part in your chosen activities.
- Activities: activities such as swimming, snorkelling, diving, hiking, safaris and boat trips carry natural risks. You take part at your own risk and must follow the instructions of the supplier.
- Conduct: you must respect local laws, customs and dress codes. Drivers follow traffic laws and reasonable driving hours, and they may refuse requests they believe are unsafe. If anyone in your group behaves in a way that puts others at risk, causes distress or damages property, we or our suppliers may end their arrangements without refund.
- Costs you cause: you agree to pay for any damage, loss, fines or costs caused by you or your group, including claims made against us as a result.
- Belongings: you're responsible for your own money, passports and belongings at all times.
9. Events Outside Our Control
We're not responsible for any failure, delay or change caused by events outside our control, including extreme weather, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, war, civil unrest, terrorism, strikes, government action or travel advisories, fuel shortages, closures of airports, ports, parks or sites, and the acts or failures of suppliers or other third parties.
10. Limits on Our Responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- As a booking agent, our responsibility is limited to making the bookings you ask for with reasonable care. We're not responsible for the acts, omissions, services, facilities, safety or standards of suppliers or any other third party, or for any injury, illness, loss, damage, delay or expense arising from them.
- We're not responsible for any services you arrange yourself, including flights, excursions and purchases made during your trip, even if our driver or guide helped you find them.
- We're not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of enjoyment, loss of earnings or business loss, or for any loss that wasn't a direct result of our own breach of these terms.
- Our total liability to you and everyone in your booking, for all claims together, will not exceed the amount you've paid to us for your booking.
- Any claim must be notified to us in writing within 28 days of the end of your trip (section 11).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
11. Problems and Complaints
If something goes wrong during your trip, you must tell your driver, guide or supplier and contact us immediately, so it can be put right while you're still travelling. If you don't, we can't accept any complaint or claim about it later. Any remaining complaint must reach us in writing within 28 days of the end of your trip.

14. General
- These terms, your quote and your written confirmation make up the whole agreement between us. Nothing said by our staff, drivers or guides changes them unless we confirm it in writing.
- If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it will apply to the maximum extent allowed, and the rest of these terms will remain in effect.
- We may update these terms at any time. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones in place when your booking was confirmed.
15. Law and Disputes
These terms and any dispute relating to them or your booking are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka, have exclusive jurisdiction. Before starting any legal proceedings, you agree to contact us first so we can try to resolve the matter directly.
